The National Higher Education Fund (Perbadanan Tabung Pendidikan Tinggi Nasional, PTPTN) was set up with the aim of providing education loans to students pursuing their studies at local higher education institutions (HEIs). This loan will enable students to partially pay their fees and their subsistence for the duration of their study.

  • Step 1:
    Kindly ensure you meet all the basic requirements as requested by PTPTN before you proceed with the online application.

    Step 2:
    Open personal savings account at any CIMB Bank branch.
    *HELP CAT panel bank for PTPTN is CIMB Bank

    Step 3:
    Open SSPN-i account at Maybank/ Bank Islam/ Agrobank/ Bank Rakyat/ RHB Bank/ PTPN Counter or via online
    with minimum deposit of RM20.

    Step 4:
    Purchase a PTPTN pin number at any branch of Bank Simpanan Nasional (BSN) or via online purchase from the PTPTN website here.

    Step 5:
    Register for the physical application here OR for the digital application here and fill in all the required information.
    – Search Nama Institusi as KOLEJ SENI DAN TEKNOLOGI HELP
    - Make sure the details for your CIMB Personal Bank Account, Nama Program, and No. Matrik (Student ID) are correct.
    – Please refer to your INTAKE and select closest date for Tarikh Mula Pengajian. 

    Step 6:
    Wait for the Online Approval via Email Notification from PTPTN after 6 days from the deadline of online application. (Applicants are reminded to check their email regularly after above period).
    The results of your PTPTN application can also reviewed via the PTPTN website.

    Step 7:
    Once approved, students need to prepare the following documentation:
    – 2 sets of Surat ‘Tawaran Pinjaman Pendidikan’ from PTPTN.
    – 2 pieces of ‘Setem Hasil’ at any Post Office branch. Ensure you buy the RM10 version (sample below).


    Above documents must be submitted to Registry Department within one week after receiving the loan agreement from PTPTN.
    *HELP CAT will verify/certify and submit documents to PTPTN office
    *Surat Tawaran Pinjaman Pendidikan needs to be submitted by the 10th day within 14 days grace period.

  • Frequently asked questions

    1. Can I apply for the PTPTN loan if I am currently in my final semester?
      – At the time of application, students must have at least a period of 1 year (3 semesters) remaining to apply.
    2. How much can I get from PTPTN?
      – It depends on your course. Students will recieve the payment by semester (two long semesters per year). Kindly refer to the table below for total loan disbursement.

      Loan Disbursement and its Eligibility 

      – Maximum: if the student/parent is listen under ‘Bantuan Sara Hidup Rakyat’ (BSHR)
      – 75% from maximum payment: Family income < RM8,000 (not listed under BSHR)
      – 50% from maximum payment: Family income > RM8,000 (not listed under BSHR)

    3. When will I get my first payment after submitting the agreement?
      – First loan disbursement will be made one month after ‘Surat Tawaran Pinjaman Pendidikan’
      (PTPTN Loan Agreement) is submitted and successfully approved by PTPTN. Students are advised to pay their current semester fees whenever it is due.
    4. Why have I not received my PTPTN payment this semester?
      – The second and subsequent payments will depend on the students’ GPA score for the previous semester. The payment will be withheld for one semester if the student is unable to achieve at least a GPA of 2.00/4.00.
    5. When must I repay the loan?
      - The loan repayment must be made after 12 months of completing your programme.
    6. Can I apply for a new loan for my degree if I have a previous PTPTN loan for my Diploma?
      - The second loan application can be made after the contract of the previous loan has ended
      – Students are required to buy a new PTPTN Pin No. for the second loan application and login to the PTPTN website by using the same ID and password used during Diploma
      – Please liaise with Registry Department for Verification Letter for student confirmation (if required by PTPTN based on certain cases).
