Professor Roderick Watkins has been appointed Vice Chancellor of Anglia Ruskin University.
Prof Watkins joined Anglia Ruskin in 2014 as Pro Vice Chancellor and Dean of Arts, Law and Social Sciences. He was appointed Deputy Vice Chancellor (Research and Innovation) in 2015. In that role he contributed to significant improvements in ARU’s research programme.
Prof Watkins is a composer with a particular interest in digital sound synthesis. He was previously Professor of Composition and Contemporary Music at Canterbury Christ Church University in Kent. His compositions include an opera, The Juniper Tree.
As a student at the Royal Academy of Music, he won all of the Academy’s main prizes for composition, completed his doctorate and became a Leverhulme Fellow.
